The new jersey combines elements of the brand's existing range

Cycling apparel brand GOBIK has released a new jersey that it claims is the lightest, most aerodynamic and breathable jersey the brand has ever created.

Creating a jersey that hits all three of these metrics is a challenging task with brands typically having to compromise on one to achieve the other two. GOBIK has used a semi-open mesh fabric that allows maximal airflow and is intended to aid cooling and moisture-wicking in higher-temperature environments. The fabric also offers protection from the sun with the jersey receiving a UPF rating of 50+.

To create Phantom jersey, GOBIK has cherry-picked existing elements from its flagship collections. In a press release issued by the brand, it said that the Phantom is lighter and more breathable than the Carrera jersey and more elastic than the CX Pro jersey.

Clothing is often underestimated as a performance upgrade but a high-quality aerodynamically optimised cycling kit can have a staggering impact. An aero cycling kit can return a better efficiency saving per £/€/$ spent than most other aero upgrades. A well-designed kit can also increase your performance by regulating body temperature effectively and keeping you comfortable.

GOBIK says that the Phantom has been created with feedback from the teams of Movistar and Ineos Grenadiers, both of whom wear GOBIK kit.

One of the ways that the brand has optimised the jersey aerodynamically is with a concealed front zip. The brand says that it features "the perfect elasticity" to reduce wrinkling when in an aggressive aero riding position.

The Phantom is available directly from GOBIK in unisex sizes from XXS through to XXL in four colours. The jersey has a recommended temperature window of between 22-38ºc and retails for €105.
